It’s all the best of Metallica and AC/DC in one great night!
Battery
In September of 1991 Battery set out on their first US tour. In the US they toured from Maine to California and from Florida to Minnesota. In Canada they toured from Quebec City to Vancouver Island. Everywhere they went they made a name for themselves as THE premier tribute to Metallica. During the Metallica / Guns n’ Roses Stadium tour, in 1992, James Hetfield, lead singer of Metallica, got hurt in a pyrotechnic accident at Olympic Stadium in Montreal, Canada/ One week later Battery was playing a show in Cleveland, OH and received a call from Metallica’s Management. They wanted the rhythm guitar player from battery to fly to Denver, CO to audition and play rhythm guitar with Metallica while James Hetfield sang for the next 4-6 weeks of the tour. This was the first time, of many, Battery was recognized by Metallica.
When Metallica returned to Montreal to do their make-up shows, missed from the accident Battery was also playing in Montreal. The day before the first of two shows Metallica was holding in Montreal, Battery was invited to a taping of an interview that Lars Ulrich, drummer of Metallica, was holding. After the taping Lars, and members of Battery talked briefly about opening some shows for Metallica in the upcoming tour. After Metallica’s show that night, Battery met Metallica’s full line-up. That was already the second meeting of Metallica and their counterparts.
Over the next couple of years many Metallica fans were able to catch Battery somewhere line in the US and Canada. So many fans liked what they saw from Battery that they kept mentioning them to Metallica. So much so, that Lars wrote an editorial in Metallica’s fan magazine “SO What” mentioning Battery directly as the premier tribute to Metallica.
